The Phrase ‘Creators Economy’ is tossed around as frequently as one might say ‘crypto’ or ‘metaverse’ these days- what it means, why it is used might be a worthwhile debate- but that’s for another time.
Equating creators and their abilities to take their audiences on an emotional rollercoaster to just something so interlinked to an ‘Economy’ or money seems almost trivial. Franklin D Roosevelt sums up our thoughts about happiness and creative effort + achievement in this wonderful quote below:
“Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.”
So what drives Creators to do what they do? Primarily creators create for the following reasons:
- Entertaining their viewers/ listeners/ audiences
- To express themselves and all their emotions
- To belong socially to a larger group- for the sense of their own personal community
- Communication and to be able to say whatever is on their mind / express their views
- ‘Influencing’ or being able to shape the opinions of a larger group of people- or attaining some kind of celebrity status
And if nothing else works, always remember what Bill Gates said all the way back in 1996 in his essay titled ‘Content is King’:
Content is where I expect much of the real money will be made on the internet, just as it was in broadcasting.
So yes, in short, sometimes, creating content is all about putting the ‘Economy’ in Creator economy and for all these needs and more, we present to you ‘Kreo’.
